oh darlin' don't you ever grow up

My nephew is almost 8 months old now.  He lives three hours away, so I don't get to spend a lot of time with him.  But when I do, I take a lot of pictures.  These are a couple of his really cute outfits.

Baby's first Christmas! :)

"Reach for the sky!" -Woody :)

I ordered this onesie online and had a family friend embroider my name.  I love it.  I'm sure he'll only be able to wear it that one time, but oh well.  I'm glad I got a picture with him in it :)

First World & Shopaholic Pains

Old Navy got a bunch of new plaid things in.  I bought a few plaid shirts without trying them on-- Note to self: always wear appropriate clothes to change in and out of in the dressing room.  I wore a sweater over a collared shirt and I just didn't want to fool with having to get my outfit all situated again so I just "shopped blindly" is what I'm calling it.  It's a first world pain, I know.  It's also a shopaholic pain! :P

But anyway, this is one of the shirts I bought.  Sadly, the other two I had to return.

Lady Gaga look a like?

When I wore this outfit to work, one of my second graders said I looked like Lady Gaga.  No complaints.  Although, I don't think I would let my second grader listen to Lady Gaga, if I had one.

I love the blazer.  I got it at Forever 21 (duh).  It has zippers that go all the way around the bottom half of the jacket, and zippers that go up the sleeves.  So cute and stylish.

I tried this on at Target.  I liked the length of the sleeves and I like dresses that have the zippers down the back.  Sorry- I couldn't get a good picture of the back though!

The King of DIY

Last month my family went to Memphis to visit Graceland.  I had just learned how to make the DIY scarves.

Here's how to make the DIY scarf!

Peplum & Peacocks

I know I haven't written a post in months, but I thought I would try to start again.  Plus I've got tons of pictures of outfits so I've got plenty to post!

I got the pink blazer & peplum top from Forever 21 in the Summer.  My BFF got me the peacock necklace last Christmas.

X-Factor Fashion

I'm not a huge fan of this group, I actually think that they'll be the next group to be sent home, but I was a fan of their fashion this past week on X-Factor.  Mainly the girl on the far left and far right in this pic. I think their outfits are super cute.

I loved the two girls' outfits on the far left.  Especially the black and white dress.  It's gorgeous!  The skinny pink belt is perfect.  Love it!

LMFAO ft. SNOOKI

I'm a fan of animal print.  I don't wear a trashy amount, but I think it's cute!  This was my geek-is-chic outfit today... it made me think of all the adorable animal print outfits that i love.  I have a ton pinned on Pinterest, so I'm going to put my favorites on here! :)

These pants were worn by Aria on Pretty Little Liars-- ever since I saw that episode, I became obsessed with them! Aria always has great clothes on- can't wait for that show to resume so I can blog about it every week haha.

This is how i roll, animal print, pants outta control
-LMFAO

I know that haters are gonna hate, but I'm a fan of Jersey Shore.  I'm literally sad it's the last season.  I'll miss watching all of the craziness!  But anyway, I love how animal print is sort of Snooki's "signature" look.  I miss the huge poof she used to do, she hardly ever does it anymore!  But anyway, here are a few of her animal print looks!

I really like this look.  It's really sophisticated in my opinion.  Obviously, the shorts are super short, but I love them!  They show off her cute legs and makes the leopard print pop!  And the fact that its a nice leopard print blazer, just looks very grown up lol.

Snooki said at one point that she wanted to wear animal print even when she was giving birth.  So it shouldn't be a surprise that her newborn baby is wrapped up in a leopard print blanket.

“I want to wear, like, leopard shoes and a leopard gown — like the hospital gowns that they have. I think that would be cute,” Snooki told Celebuzz.

Animal print FTW! :)

All dogs go to Heaven

My parents had to put my dog to sleep today.

It wasn't but a few months ago that the cat that I've had since I was five died.  So it's really hard.  I actually can't even believe it, because I haven't been to my parent's house yet.  I haven't seen that she isn't there.  After I do, it'll actually sink in that she's gone.

It's funny, not really, but, the day my cat died, my family was all sad and everything.  Well, I went up to my dog and pointed at her, all serious, and I told her she wasn't ever allowed to die.  It wasn't a week later when my mom told me she was sick and would be dying in the near future.

My dog: Challenge Accepted

Some people might think this is the dumbest thing they've ever heard.  I'd say those people don't have a soul.  That, or they've never truly loved an animal.  And I think that's sad.  My family are animal people.  All my life we've had an animal in our house, and now we don't.  That's really sad to me.  I know that this blog is a) seriously weird or b) seriously depressing and also has nothing to do with fashion... but it happened to me today and I feel like talking about it.  And you're still reading it, so I guess you feel like listening (;

I won't go on too much longer about my dead animals though, because that is a little weird, but just remember that all dogs go to heaven and my cat was too angelic to be anywhere else<3

Shopaholic Shocker

I went shopping yesterday.  For something to wear to my friend's wedding in particular.  I tried on so many things, and something happened to me that has never happened before... I didn't buy any of them!

The first place I went was Charlotte Rousse.  I love their clothes, but it feels like most of them are made for girls that are strictly size 0.  Even so, I went into the dressing room with an armful of things to try on.

I instantly loved this red dress when I saw it.  When I tried it on, I didn't think it was as flattering as I would have liked.  It's gorgeous though, I wish I had the right body for it!

I've been searching for a denim button-up ever since they became popular.  They are too cute!  I never can seem to find the right fit though.  When I tried this one on, I loved it.  But there was still the matter of it not fitting quite right around the shoulders.  I was extremely disappointed.  I almost bought it anyway haha (Shopaholic symptom: buying things even when they don't fit).

So I left Evansville with a UK blue, skinny belt (from Charlotte Rousse), and a cute, black, dress jacket with gold zippers (from Forever 21).  I'll have pictures of them up soon :)  It must have been a shock to my Shopaholic side- I'm pretty sure that's the least I've left the mall with in a long time!

Possible Wedding Attire

I have a wedding to go to on Sunday, which means... dress shopping! DUH!  When I went to Lexington, I raided my sister's closet to make sure there was nothing I may be able to wear of hers.  I really like this dress, and may wear it.

I'm definitely still going shopping in Evansville tomorrow though (;

Wide Open Spaces

My family went to Lexington for the past few days to visit my sister, brother in law and nephew.  I love going to Lexington.  Everything is so pretty there.  There's not a lot of open land in Owensboro.  In Lexington there's so many open fields that just make me wish I was a kid again so I could kick off my shoes and run around for no reason.

Lexington reminds me of the Dixie Chicks song Wide Open Spaces.

She needs wide open spaces
Room to make her big mistakes
She needs new faces
She knows the high stakes

I guess because I went to college in Lexington and it was the first time I really left my parents.  And I really needed to get away, out of their nest and see what kind of person I really was without them by my side.  And I needed to make mistakes, so I could learn and grow from them, which I did.  I needed new people to meet, because all of my friends had gone to other colleges.  It was definitely scary to leave, but I couldn't live at home forever, right?

I stayed at my cousins' house one night.  They have an amazing back yard, and a ton of land with a barn.  They have several animals, cats, dogs, horses, I'm not sure what else!  When I go to the barn, I go camera crazy haha.  I love taking pictures of the horses.

My grandma decided to name this picture 'The Road to Nowhere.'  I approve :)

The night before we left, I told my mom I wanted to go to Target because I wanted to buy something to wear to Lexington (*Shopaholic symptom: buying specific clothes for a casual event).  Well we went, and I got this super cute sweater.  Pretty sure it was only $18.99 :)  I put on an apricot colored tank underneath so it would look even more Fall-like.

I should have taken a picture of these when I had on my skinny jeans.  I absolutely love them though.  I got them at Target (duh) and they were somewhere around $30

Leaving Lexington :(  Always hard to say goodbye!

On Wednesdays we wear pink!

I wanted to write this blog on the actual National Mean Girls Day, which, according to Twitter, was last Wednesday.  But my internet went out and I'm only just now getting it back.

One of the big movies of my generation was Mean Girls.  I don't even really know why, it was just another teen movie if we're being honest.  Although, it had characters we could all relate to.

Cady, the moral heroine, who is tempted by popularity.  Regina, the Queen B, who has the constant need to be the center of attention (and to lose three pounds).  Karen, the ditzy friend, with a side of slutty.  And Gretchen, who never feels good enough.

Well, on Wednesday, it just so happened to be October 3rd also.

On October 3rd he asked me what day it was.  "It's October 3rd." -Cady, Mean Girls

On Twitter, I saw that #NationalMeanGirlsDay and #ItsOctober3rd were trending.  Well, I obviously wore pink to work that day!  And I obviously quoted the movie all day long.  I swear, that movie is so good.  It's like every line is hilarious.

"And I want my pink shirt back!  I want my pink shirt back!"  -Damian

Don't forget to wear pink on Wednesdays, and FOUR for you Glen Coco!

You GO Glen Coco.

My DIY headboard

Today I went over to my parents' house to paint my headboard with my mom.  This isn't fashion related, just thought I'd tell you about my life.  It's really not very interesting haha.  I've literally been meaning to paint my headboard for almost 4 months now.  Every time I plan on doing it, it rains or I have to work or something.  But, my mom and I, finally got it finished today.  I bought two doors and painted them teal.  I've set them behind my bed to make a headboard.  Now all I have to do is nail the door knobs on (they aren't regular door knobs).  I love it- the only thing I wanted to do differently is paint the lines white, but we just aren't talented enough painters lol.  I wanted to pay someone to do it for me!!

I have no idea why that picture wants to be small.  But those are my doors!  :)  I'm excited to finally have a headboard.  I was worried I was never going to get it painted!

Last day of September

It's the last day of September, but the weather isn't cooling off much.  It's no longer so hot that the outdoors are intolerable, but it's still getting up in the mid 70s and lower 80s.  The weather is still calling for shorts and tank tops, until the sun goes down at least!

May the good 'ole days R.I.P

When I was younger I used to watch Boy Meets World and Saved by the Bell.   Well, I recently realized that you can watch every episode of Boy Meets World on YouTube.  So I've had myself a little marathon, which I literally just finished the last episode about an hour ago.

When they say goodbye to Mr. Feeny- oh, I cried!

But anyway, I was comparing the fashion in these two shows.  I think it's interesting how Boy Meets World's wardrobe is so much more conservative of the two.  Topanga's wardrobe (who is the main female in Boy Meets World, in case you slept through the 90's) mostly consists of cute, but conservative outfits.  I think the one here is adorable.  I love myself a cute jean vest!  The 90's are making a come back, I could definitely wear something similar to this today.  With the right shoes, it's almost got a hipster-vibe.

Saved by the Bell, on the other hand had a bit more sex appeal in their wardrobe.  Nothing sleazy, but Kelly Kapowski definitely got some attention.  Here's the picture that so many people pay to have printed on a t-shirt (you can order it from Urban Outfitters for $24).  Kelly's sex appeal is much more obvious than Topanga's.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just an observation on my part.  I actually really like this outfit (not that I have the body for it!), but it's super cute!  I'm in love with suspenders.  I don't have any... must get some soon!

I personally respect Boy Meets World for keeping the audience captivated, even without being sleazy (again- not calling Saved by the Bell sleazy-- it's one of my favorites!).  I understand that the show was aired in the 90's, but I rewatched the entire series in the past two weeks... I'm 23 and never once did I think, "man, I wish someone would shed some clothes."  So I guess it's sad to me that shows today think they can't just be.  They think they have to cuss, and be sleazy and have sex.  I'm disappointed in our society.  It's gone so far downhill and it worries me for where it's going to be in five years, ten?

I don't mean to sound like I'm being holier than thou, or that I'm on some high horse-- because I'm really not.  Trust me, I'm not.  I mean I'm just as guilty as anyone else, probably worse so because most people hate Jersey Shore and I can't turn it off.  I just hate that it's not just a couple shows... it's pretty much every one.  Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, even shows on ABC Family like Pretty Little Liars and The Secret Life (again- GUILTY!  I watch every one!  Except The Secret Life- no thanks).  I guess these are just some thoughts that I didn't even realize I was going to express.  Sorry if I came off as snobby!

Glee Fashion: Rachel & Kurt

It's Thursday, which means most of my favorite shows come on tonight.  In fact, so many of my shows come on tonight, and at the same time, that I can't record and watch them all!  It's a very sad story, I know.

Well one of my shows that I absolutely can not miss is Glee (duh).  Rachel and Kurt are my all-time favorite fashion icons on that show.  Everything they wear is to die for.  Here's a few of their outfits from this season that I loved :)

I am a huge fan of the fishtail braid, so I love Rachel's hair here.  And I love her yellow beret beanie!  Her outfit looks very Fall.  The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of with this outfit was her shoes which you can't even see.  The rest of it, I love!

Anything Kurt wears, I adore.  He can literally pull of anything.  I love how his look has become more and more sophisticated.  And I love that he has gotten an internship at Vogue (so perfect!).  I keep trying to decide if Sarah Jessica Parker is going to end up stealing his ideas, or actually be a true friend to him.  I can't decide!  I hope she doesn't stab him in the back!

OBSESSED with both of their outfits here.  They are both so chic.  Loving their newfound New York fashion sense.  Not that they didn't have good fashion sense before, it was just more high school.  They actually look more mature now.

Excuse me while I gleek out!
