May the good 'ole days R.I.P

When I was younger I used to watch Boy Meets World and Saved by the Bell.   Well, I recently realized that you can watch every episode of Boy Meets World on YouTube.  So I've had myself a little marathon, which I literally just finished the last episode about an hour ago.

When they say goodbye to Mr. Feeny- oh, I cried!

But anyway, I was comparing the fashion in these two shows.  I think it's interesting how Boy Meets World's wardrobe is so much more conservative of the two.  Topanga's wardrobe (who is the main female in Boy Meets World, in case you slept through the 90's) mostly consists of cute, but conservative outfits.  I think the one here is adorable.  I love myself a cute jean vest!  The 90's are making a come back, I could definitely wear something similar to this today.  With the right shoes, it's almost got a hipster-vibe.

Saved by the Bell, on the other hand had a bit more sex appeal in their wardrobe.  Nothing sleazy, but Kelly Kapowski definitely got some attention.  Here's the picture that so many people pay to have printed on a t-shirt (you can order it from Urban Outfitters for $24).  Kelly's sex appeal is much more obvious than Topanga's.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just an observation on my part.  I actually really like this outfit (not that I have the body for it!), but it's super cute!  I'm in love with suspenders.  I don't have any... must get some soon!

I personally respect Boy Meets World for keeping the audience captivated, even without being sleazy (again- not calling Saved by the Bell sleazy-- it's one of my favorites!).  I understand that the show was aired in the 90's, but I rewatched the entire series in the past two weeks... I'm 23 and never once did I think, "man, I wish someone would shed some clothes."  So I guess it's sad to me that shows today think they can't just be.  They think they have to cuss, and be sleazy and have sex.  I'm disappointed in our society.  It's gone so far downhill and it worries me for where it's going to be in five years, ten?

I don't mean to sound like I'm being holier than thou, or that I'm on some high horse-- because I'm really not.  Trust me, I'm not.  I mean I'm just as guilty as anyone else, probably worse so because most people hate Jersey Shore and I can't turn it off.  I just hate that it's not just a couple shows... it's pretty much every one.  Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, even shows on ABC Family like Pretty Little Liars and The Secret Life (again- GUILTY!  I watch every one!  Except The Secret Life- no thanks).  I guess these are just some thoughts that I didn't even realize I was going to express.  Sorry if I came off as snobby!
